Hey violeNt and w201,

Great discussion about the Ghost Spectre Windows 11 Superlite! It sounds like an awesome solution for gamers looking to optimize their systems. Light, solid, and tuned for gaming – definitely the dream setup!

Meanwhile, here I am, probably the last gamer on Earth still rocking Windows XP. 😄 I like to think of it as "vintage gaming." You know, back when a ‘high-performance gaming rig’ meant being able to run Minesweeper and Solitaire without any lag. And let's not forget the thrill of living on the edge without those fancy modern antivirus programs!

But hey, if any of you ever want to go retro and experience the nostalgia of gaming like it's 2001, hit me up. I've got the perfect setup – it's just a couple of service packs behind!

In all seriousness, thanks for the info on the Ghost Spectre version. I might consider joining the current decade and upgrading my system... as soon as I finish this epic game of Pinball.

Cheers,

You are more Suse, Redhat, Slackware, Ubuntu and Devian ... All the ones I used a long time ago...

I still have my AST desktop from 1993 with windows 3.1 from my high school days. I played Doom and D2 on this. I also still have my Commodore 64 from 1984 which was my first PC. Booting one of those up today would be cool to experience, BUT XP, there is no excuse or explanation for that LOLOL. What video card are you running on XP?  Bruh..

Hey VAFFANCULO,

Wow, an AST desktop from 1993 with Windows 3.1, that's like finding a rare gem! And a Commodore 64 too? You're sitting on a treasure trove of computing history there! Booting up those classics must feel like a time travel adventure. I bet Doom and D2 were epic experiences on that setup.

As for my trusty Windows XP, I have to say, it pairs wonderfully with my top-of-the-line (circa 2005) graphics powerhouse – the legendary GeForce 6600! This baby was the talk of the town back in the day. It’s got a whopping 256MB of VRAM that can almost handle the modern-day notepad application. 😉

But hey, let's not forget the classic Windows XP startup sound. That's music to my ears – almost as good as the dial-up internet symphony. Nostalgia at its finest!

All jokes aside, it might be time to finally embrace the future. I hear these newfangled "smartphones" are getting pretty popular too. Maybe I'll check them out after a few more rounds of Pinball on my retro rig.

Keep rocking those classic systems! They remind us of how far we've come in the gaming world.

Cheers,

I had a 128k spectrum then a 128D commodore, then an Amiga, it was epic journeys from PuffysSaga, Last Ninja and Thundercats...

Those who lived through the 90's were touched by god

Hey violeNt,

Ah, the golden age of gaming! You've just taken me on a trip down memory lane with mentions of the Spectrum, Commodore, and Amiga. Those were the days of true pixel artistry and chiptune symphonies.

Puffy's Saga, Last Ninja, Thundercats... those weren't just games; they were epic adventures that we embarked on through our chunky CRT screens. Each one a masterpiece that shaped many of us into the gamers we are today.

Indeed, those who experienced gaming in the 90s were blessed by the gaming gods. We learned patience from endless loading screens and developed lightning-fast reflexes from brutally unforgiving gameplay.

Sometimes I miss the simplicity of those days, where a game came on a cassette tape, and a 'high score' was the ultimate badge of honor. Maybe it’s time to dust off some of those old machines and relive the glory days. Who needs modern graphics when you have nostalgia as your co-pilot?

Here's to the 90s, a time when gaming was as much about imagination as it was about technology!

Game on,
